After a whole month in alpine bliss, we packed things up and moved out of the canyon. We spent a busy weekend working on some projects at Margaret’s place in Centerville and having one more super fun Mueller family dinner. Then we filled the car with a few things and drove north and west for a change of scenery.
Our first stop was Twin Falls to see my brother and sister-in-law. Since Torr and Jane moved to Idaho and we moved to wherever we are now, we just don’t see them much, so it was a delight to spend an evening with them getting caught up. Torr fed us well and we had a great time. Then it was on to Oregon. We really enjoyed the spectacular drive through the Columbia River gorge, especially since we’ve never seen it decked out in autumn colors before. It was a rainy drive into Portland, but it was a beautiful and moody time to be there.
We were there to deliver some items to a violin dealer that we have worked with before, but that was a great excuse to check in on our youngest, El, and partner, Adia. We had delicious dim sum and did some shopping. They look great and it was so good to see them in person and get caught up a bit. After a couple of days in the city, we made a break for the coast. We are staying in the beautiful coastal town of Yachats. We are just a block from the ocean and we’re loving the sunset show every evening. We also enjoyed a great hike around Cape Perpetua, including Thor’s Well and the Spouting Horn as well as killer fish and chips at Luna Sea Fish House.
The only downside has been that I’m a bit under the weather with a head cold. It has slowed me down a bit, but it hasn’t been too bad. We’re definitely in the right place for a slower pace. Have a great week!
All is Quiet
There’s not much going on from day to day here, so very little to report. I will be doing some website maintenance in the next couple of weeks, so there may or may not be posts for a bit. We will see how it goes. There was a request (thanks, Erin!) for book recommendations from 2025, so here goes…
New Year on the Gulf
Happy New Year, y’all! We are settled into our January home: a little condo in Miramar Beach, Florida overlooking Choctawhatchee Bay. We had a quiet Christmas, a tumultuous trip to Miami, and a great visit with family on our way here.
West Virginia and Points South
Hello and Merry Christmas! We have had a full week of the fun and excitement that we like about our nomadic life. Not all perfect, but good!
