We’re still here in Florida, working on projects and getting in our daily walks and recommended daily doses of sunsets and healthy food.

We don’t do much that’s exciting from day to day. Nathan reads, studies languages, and practices the piano. I’ve made some crafts, worked on my website, and done plenty of drawing. We have the advantage of plenty of time for daily workouts and walks. The weather has been mostly cool, but there have been some swings up and down. It’s mostly been quite nice until today. We caught the southern end of the massive storm that’s swept across so much of the country. We had some serious rain–it was pretty exciting!

We’ve only had a few “events” while we’ve been here. About a week ago, we woke up to find that our refrigerator had died in the night. Nathan grabbed a couple of bags of ice to turn our non-functional freezer into an icebox and later that day a maintenance guy brought us a mini fridge. It wasn’t ideal, but it worked for a few days. We were surprised yesterday when a new fridge was delivered and we are happy to have a working freezer and regular-sized fridge again.

The other happenings this week were an outing and a show. One day we drove to the charming town of Seaside. They built it in the 80s to look like it is a lot older. It was also a filming location for The Truman Show. It’s very cute and walkable and we enjoyed our afternoon there. On Thursday, we went to see the local community theater production of Murder on the Orient Express. It was fun and they did a great job. It’s tough to have amateur actors tackling all the different European accents, but they mostly rose to the challenge.

We’ve had the chance to research and plan some new travel adventures for this year. We’ve also been able to nail down some of our schedule for the coming months, so that’s been nice. For the most part, things won’t be much different…some time for just us, some time with family and some time traveling. We have one more week here in Miramar Beach and then we set out for points north! Have a great week!

Closing This Chapter

Closing This Chapter

So, here we are. It’s been 90 weeks since we drove out of our driveway in Sandy, bound for new experiences and a unique chapter of our life by moving to Europe. We started another chapter when we returned to the U.S. last summer. A LOT has happened since then, and we have been blessed to spend tons of time with family and friends across the country. The last ten months have been such a precious season to reconnect, to celebrate, and to mourn with those we love. Now, it’s time to close that chapter and open another — time for another adventure!

Another fun week in Utah with family and friends doing some of our favorite things!

Utah!

Utah!

I missed doing a post last week because we were en route to Utah from St. Louis. We really enjoyed our last week with Alex, Hanna, and the boys. We had a great time playing outside with the kids, going to the library and the St. Louis Science Center.

This week we have been in Centerville staying with Margaret (who is such a kind and accommodating host) and having a good mix of family time, outdoor fun, and working on sorting through Nathan’s dad’s office/studio. Our daughter, Lauren, flew in from West Virginia yesterday to ski with her dad. We are enjoying the beautiful, snowy mountains and the relaxed visits with family and friends. We will be here for three more weeks, so if you want to meet up, send me a message!
